In this September message, I would like to highlight our activities in the month of August as well as planned activities in September.

Our sister club RC of Johor Centennial installed their new board of directors and President Celest Foong on August 19 and our club was represented by myself. RC of Kulai also installed their new board of directors and President Goh Hee Seng on August 20 and our club was represented by myself, Rotarian Richard Ong, PP Ong Chee Wee and Wenee, CP Chew Ban Seng and his spouse Swee Lan.

The month of September will witness the launch a Community Service Project our club have organized in conjunction with Action for Happiness, UK. This is a facilitated, 8-session, workshop to help people to learn the 10 key concepts to happy living. PP Vicky Soo is the organizing chair, and CP Chew Ban Seng is the facilitator and I am the understudy. The programme will have its first session on Friday, September 16, at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Foundation of Rotary Clubs (S) Ltd premises.

Our Rotarators at Rotarat Club of ITE College East have organized a fund raising event for their upcoming international community service projects in the Philippines. The event is known as EQ Leadership Seminar and CP Chew Ban Seng, Rotarian Zwen Chua and Rotarian Richard Ong will be the speakers at the event. The event will take place on Saturday, September 10 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm at Lecture Theatre 3 in ITE College East.

As a community project of our club and Family of Rotary, a fun and entertaining workshop is organized to help Rotarians and anyone from the public to learn the skill of ventriloquism and magic tricks. Such skills will come in handy to entertain children and the aged when Rotarians do humanity projects. Our very own Rotarian Patrick Wan will be the maestro to conduct the workshop. The event will take place on Sunday, September 4 from 2pm to 5pm at the Multi purpose Hall of the Salvation Army at 356 Tanglin Road.

Together, let’s live up to the Rotary Theme: ROTARY SERVING HUMANITY
