In this November message, the focus will be on the visit to our club by District Governor Michael Yee on Thursday, 10 November, 2016.

For the benefit of members who are relatively new to Rotary, the District Governor will visit one by one all the clubs in the district early in the term to help clubs set goals and achieve goals. The visit is made up of two parts. The first part is a private meeting with the Club’s President, Secretary, Treasurer, and President-Elect. AG Tan Wah Yuan, the Assistant Governor to Group 7 where we belong, will be in attendance. This meeting will take place in the afternoon from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. For his term, DG Michael Yee has decided to hold the discussion based on the online Rotary Club Central.

DG Michael will go through the three sections in the Rotary Club Central, namely, Your Club, Service, and Foundation Giving. Following this private meeting will be the club assembly, which is a physical meeting where all members are expected to attend. At the club assembly, club directors will deliver their reports to DG Michael and in turn DG will address all club members. THEREFORE, ALL MEMBERS ARE URGED TO COME FOR THIS SPECIAL PHYSICAL MEETING.

At this physical meeting, we shall be inducting two new prospective members, namely, Geoffrey Chua and Cindi Tan. This is will bring our membership up to 22.

The Action for Happiness Course, which is a Community Service Project our club organized jointly with Action for Happiness UK, will run its final session on 4 November. We will conduct a graduation session at the physical meeting on 10 November. DG Michael Yee will witness the presentation of certificates to the participants of the course.

Another fun and entertaining workshop to help Rotarians and anyone from the public to learn the skill of ventriloquism and magic tricks will be held on 6 November at FRCS Boardroom @Chinatown Point. This is a Community Project organized by our club and Family of Rotary. The workshop will be delivered in both English and Mandarin.

“My Wish”, the signature project of our club since 2008, will have the baton handed over from Rotarian Dr Mark Hon to PP Vicky Soo. A new set of trustees has been appointed. They are the current President Ching Kwock Wing, Immediate Past President Ong Chee Wee, President-Elect Richard Ong, Advisor Mark Hon and Project Chair Vicky Soo. Rotarian Elly Ho and Rotarian Satine Huang are the Application Administrators who will manage the internet application for the operation of the project.

Many more exciting projects are on our plate beginning December till the end of this term. Together, let’s live up to the Rotary Theme: ROTARY SERVING HUMANITY.

 President Ching Kwock Wing
