My dear fellow Rotarians

27 March 2017 493 views No Comment

In life we know that there are 3 types of people.

  1. Those who make things happen…
  2. Those who watch what happened…
  3. Those who wonder what happened…

In the process of evolution, at the 2016 Council on Legislation, RI introduced dramatic changes including flexible memberships etc etc.

Today we are getting plenty of buzz from such revolutionary forward looking RI leadership. Many Rotarians have embraced the changes… while a few remain unconvinced.

My dear fellow Rotarians, do you realise that back in 2001 when we submitted our proposed Constitution for Rotary Eclub 3310 we already have the "Associate Rotarian" category??

Our proposed Constitution was drafted by yours truly in consultation with the late PDG Dr MG John and PDG Gerald Minjoot, our Honorary Member.

At that time, many senior Rotarians scorned at us… but we persisted since Rotary Eclub 3310 was set up as a "prototype" and was approved by RI.

We had our very first "Associate Rotarian" in 2005. He was a former Rotaractor. Unfortunately, this person is now a very active Lions.

Rotary Eclub 3310 introduced one of two models for Rotary Cyberclubs. We had flexible meetings and was the first hybrid club in the world.

Today, even the most traditional 'brick and mortar' Rotary clubs see advantages in this model which was conceived by 3 "young gentlemen" from District 3310 back in 2001.

In life sometimes being ahead of the curve has its drawback. It does not matter. Do it anyway… for that separates the leaders and followers.

Yes Rotary Eclub of 3310 is very controversial. We believe in testing new frontiers which will become the norm in the future.

So please join us in the first category and don't sit back as part of the latter two.

God bless you. See you at the TOP!!
