Dear AGs, Presidents, Secretaries

I am pleased to advise that PDG David Tong is the Patron and G-O-H for World Polio Day 2017 Singapore. David is also Rotary Coordinator (RC) for Zone 6B which consists of 10 Districts, namely, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

For World Polio Day 2017, we are hoping to get around 200 Rotarians and their guests to attend. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Rotary to potential members. It is also a great time for us to show our younger Rotarians that many things are possible with unity and creativity.

"The World Polio Day, an important event in the calendar of The Rotary Foundation, is celebrated to mark and remember the initiatives, efforts, challenges as well as the success of The Rotary Foundation in enhancing the awareness and in raising funds toward the eventual eradication of this deadly disease Polio." — PDG Zainie Abdul Aucasa, Chairman, District Rotary Foundation Committee

The three organising clubs for World Polio Day 2017 are Rotary Club of Singapore Heartlands, Rotary Club of Tanjong Pagar and Rotary Eclub of 3310. So far at least 8 Rotary Clubs have pledged to support this event by cancelling their regular meetings and making this as their makeup meeting. Perhaps the other clubs may like to consider similar.

The highlight of World Polio Day 2017 held in Singapore is the invitation of an extraordinary guest speaker, PP John Soe, from Jakarta, Indonesia. He is himself a polio victim. In spite of adversity and challenges, he is today a highly successful architect and interior designer. Come, listen and be inspired by his story.

Fyi, Rotary Eclub of 3310 has invited ITE College East Rotaractors and Rotary Club of Singapore Heartlands their PNS Interactors. We hope your club may like to consider likewise and sponsor them to attend.

The cost per person is S$30. However, the organisers will only be collecting S$5 per head, from each club, to help cover incidental expenses incurred for the event. We recommend that each club takes the responsibility to forward the balance S$25 from each participating Rotarian to The Rotary Foundation's PolioPlus account under the individual participant's name. This is the individual club's responsibility.

Please contact President Dorothy Loke @ 9006 1592 (Rotary Club of Singapore Heartlands) or President Jona Pang @ 8687 6866 (Rotary Club of Tanjong Pagar) with the names of your confirmed participants, ideally by Friday 20 October 2017, and to pay at the registration counter S$5 for each registered name.

As we expect a large turnout, the organisers have decided that we shall not accept walk-in participants. Therefore, you must appreciate that we need the confirmed number of participants for the preparation of the buffet spread that evening.

If you have any further question, please contact P resident Richard Ong @ 9825 1985 (Rotary Eclub of 3310). Much appreciate your support. Togther, let's make a difference!!
