President’s Message for January 2018

Dear Friends of Rotary  and Rotarians,

 On behalf of RC EClub of 3310, I would like to wish all our donors, volunteers, medical staff & doctors, Friends of Rotary and Rotarians A Happy and Peaceful 2018.

Amazing, how time passes like a "Blitzkrieg" and six months had passed since our new term began in July 2017. We are excited, exhilarated and honoured that we are featured in Be a Vibrant Club publication and our successful medical outreach Gift of Sight, Nepal 2017 with 1,000 cataract surgeries done; and many new milestones and achievements. The first six months of the term was focusing on membership drive and building quality &  sustainable programs. We had structure to develop and build  our club activities based on these four major programs; mainly Prevention Blindness, Youth Development, Happy Community and Water & Sanitation. 

A summary of key milestones and achievements from July to Dec 2017 are as follows:

I. Prevention Blindness Program 

* Pre-Conference Rotary Joint Districts 3310 & 3300 "Seeing Eye to Eye" Conference on 6th Oct 2017

* Rotary Joint Districts 3310 & 3300 Blindness Prevention Conference @ SNEC on 7th Oct 2017

* Eye Screening for Elderly @ Jamiyah Home for the Aged on 3rd Sep2017 jointly organized RCSH & RC EClub of 3310

* Launch of 3 months PR Campaign for GOS Nepal 2017 and 8 designated collection points.

* Gift of Sight, Nepal 2017 was featured in Sin Min Daily Singapore edition on 17th Oct 2017 

* Gift of Sight, Nepal 2017 @ Hetauda Community Eye  Hospital on 16th to 20th Dec 2017. 

* Gift of Sight Indonesia 2018 was initiated on 8th Aug 2017 and will be led by Chef de Mission CP Chew BS. We are waiting for approval from The Rotary Foundation for Global Grant of US$53k before rollout of the full plan.     

 

II. Youth Leadership Program 

* Participated in  ITE College West Gavel  Club ISTT Contest @ ITE College West on 15th Nov 2017

* Organized ITE College East Rotaractors - 1st Youth Leadership Program (8 sessions program)

* ITE College East Field Trip to Philippines hosted by our sister club RC of Loyola Heights on 17th - 25th Sept 2017

* Speech Workshop for Youth @ Zespiron Balestier on 25th Jul 2017 

* Speech Workshop for ITE College East @ Toa Payoh Advanced South TMC on 28th Jul 2017 

* 2nd ITE College East Rotaractors Club Installation on 31st Jul 2017

 

III. Happy Community Program 

* Our signature project Rotary  My Wish since 2008, there were on average one wish we fulfilled every month.

* Launch RC EClub of 3310 Newsletter (1st Issue) TRUE ROTARIANS @ BigStreet on Installation 

* Distribution of Mooncakes @ Yong En Care Center on 2nd Oct 2017

* Participated with RC Marina City Rotary Flag Day 2017 @ Vivo City on 27th Nov 2017

* 1st District 3310 World Polio Day 2017@ BM Cafe on 24th Oct 2017 with extraordinary guest speaker PP John Soe 

* Project Kopi Friends @ Society for the Aged Sick on 11th Nov 2017 participated with RC Singapore together.

 

IV. Water & Sanitation Program

* In collocation with Emaan Foundation to distribute food packets to rural area families, oral and general hygiene and introduction of computer to Children Center at Emaan Education @ Koh Kong from 4th to 9th Sept 2017.

* We are in planning phase to have a GG Water & Sanitation project in Cambodia.

 

V. Other Projects & Visits 

* Hosting of RC Bandar Utama and Disaster Aid Response TEAM (DART)  

* OKIOS Helping Hands @ Tondo - Visited and sent shipment of 60 cartons of soya meals in two shipments - 25th Jul and 24th Sep 2017

* RC Loyola Heights Installation & Dinner on 25th Jul 2017 - Signing of renewal agreement to celebrate our 10th Anniversary as our sister club .

* Installation Dinner of RC Muar and RC Batu Pahat on 7th and 8th July 2017

* Installation Dinner & Signing of 10 years renewal agreement with  RC Bandar Utama on 26th Aug 2017 

 

RC EClub of 3310 members must stay focus, united and cohesive, active participation and continue to build our quality and sustainable programs. Our membership has increase to 29 members and with 3 more members to be inducted in Jan 2018, therefore we need to engage our new members actively.  

We need to uphold our Motto :  We Believe, We Act and We Live As TRUE ROTARIANS. 

Let's work together closely in harmony to Serve Humanity Above Self and Making A Difference.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the BOD and CLP Chairs 2017/18 and all members for your selfless contributions and commitments; and active participation in various projects in order to continue to grow and becoming a Dynamic & Vibrant  club. 

Bring A Friend and share with them " Who is Rotary ? " come and attend our monthly physical meeting on 11th Jan 2018 @ Chinatown Point.
