Default District Rotary Foundation Seminar @SingPoly Graduates Guild, 23 Nov 2013

    Dear Club Presidents 2013-14:

Past RI President Dong Kurn (D K) Lee, Trustee Chair 2013-14, in his November 2013 message, asks all Rotarians to celebrate Rotary Foundation Month, which falls in the month of November.

There’s no better way to celebrate Rotary Foundation Month than to encourage your members to attend the forthcoming District Rotary Foundation Seminar for Singapore, Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild, 1010 Dover Road Singapore 139658, 23 November (Saturday). Registration starts from 11:30 am. A sumptuous nine-course buffet lunch will be served from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. The Foundation seminar will take place between 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm, with a coffee break midway through the sessions.

    Who Should Attend the Seminar?

Club Presidents, Club Secretaries, Club Treasurers, Club Directors, Club Rotary Foundation Chairs, Club Leaders, Rotarians (young and old). Kindly disseminate this important email invitation to your club members. Thanks!

    Why Attend the Seminar?

    1. The Future Vision Plan was approved by The Rotary Foundation Trustees and the RI Board in their October/November 2007 meetings and a three-year pilot program successfully completed between 2009 and 2012. The Future Vision Plan has now been fully implemented and realized as the new Rotary Foundation in 2013-14.
    2. The Rotary Foundation has four goals in 2013-14: eradicate polio, build ownership and pride in our Foundation, launch our new grant model, engage in innovative projects.
    3. The Rotary Foundation’s new grant model will enhance TRF’s ability to support district and club humanitarian and educational projects.
    4. The six areas of focus provide direction for developing service projects, improve capacity to address needs, and showing the world that Rotary is a global leader in humanitarian service.
    5. The new grant model offers many benefits to clubs and districts: greater awareness and engagement, greater scale, greater enthusiasm and contribution, improved stewardship and accountability, greater efficiency, greater club and district ownership, global grant scholarships, Vocational Training Teams.
    6. The new grant model offers a simplified, more flexible approach, while encompassing a broad range of grant-supported activities.
    7. In the new Rotary Foundation, the focus is on sustainable projects and greater impact. “Sustainability” means that benefits continue to flow after the grant money is spent.
    8. The success of the new grant model will be measured over time.
    9. Without our Foundation, many of the world’s children would be without hope. Your leadership will provide that hope. The theme of the series of District Rotary Foundation Seminars is “Doing Good through The Rotary Foundation.” Let us Engage Rotary, Change Lives.

    Should You Attend the Seminar?

The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary. It taps into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as polio eradication and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition, with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact. It is a force for doing good in the world. Because The Rotary Foundation is your Foundation, you should be concerned with what it is doing and play your part in it. Begin by registering for the seminar and join other Rotarians in this new learning experience with a new seminar format that is challenging, provocative, and stimulating. Study the attached seminar program to see the many topics that will be covered. The new seminar format will provide ample opportunities for audience participation, with a survey to be completed during the panel discussion session. The completed survey questionnaires will be collected and used for research to improve Rotary Foundation activities and programs in the district.
